    C2 VIN plate rivets

Did the '66 and '67 cars use only a rosette rivet to attach the serial number plate under the glove box, or was it possible to have the stainless "pop" style head used, just as was alternated through the '65 model year?

Style changed to Rosette head in early '65 (Nov/Dec timeframe).

agree with jack, never having seen a 66 or 7 with anything other than rosette rivets( unless the vin plate had been removed and re-installed with pop rivits by a previous owner.) mike

Thank you very much, Jack and Mike. I thought that was how it was supposed to be but was not positive.

This forum and the folks on it are great!

Bill, how difficult is it to get the rosette rivets?

the rosette rivets were used by GM and mopar starting in late 60's. we had a guy in MAC/NCRS who worked at a mopar plant in delaware who provided rosette rivets for 10 bucks a pair. haven't seen him for years but they are available. good luck, mike

Rosette rivets became hard to get about 3 or 4 years ago - govt cracking down on theft! You used to be able to buy them at Paragon for $3 a pair. I last saw them at Carlisle for $10 a pair and they were the wrong color.
