    71-74 454 Timing Covers

Anyone out there with a 71-74 big block who is reasonably sure that their engine and the timing cover are original? You don't need to be absolutely positive, just reasonably sure. If so, could you please look at it and see if your timing tab (pointer) is spot welded to the timing cover OR it it's a seperate pointer attached by 2 of the timing cover bolts? This is really easy to discern; just a glance will do it. Also, it doesn't really matter if it's a Corvette, or not. In this regard, any 71-74 Chevrolet with 454 and an original engine and timing cover will be useful information.
