    C-2 Splash shields???

I was just reading a thread on the splash shields and fortunately could follow conversation along as I just preped my body for removal.

My instruction did very well at describing the fenderwell splash shieds, and they were removed with no difficulty. However, my instruction did tell me to remove the "LARGE splash shields" under the foot wells?????

I have search high and low, but see no evidence of splash shields at the foot wells. So, I presumed that they have been removed and never replaced. Still, I found no evidence where they "might have" been installed.

I tried to locate them to purchase new ones, but they are not listed (at least on a couple of sites). Is it possible that a late 63 SWC did not have them???
It seem to me that they might have been used to keep exhaust heat away from the floor boards as well???

Also, many have used the site "Paragon" for parts...What exactly is their web address?

    Michael,

I don't believe any 63's had the splash shields you are talking about. I also think that most 63 cars did not have the tunnel insulator above the transmission.

I think you're correct on the splash shields for a 63. There weren't any. However I think they did have the tunnel insulation. I replaced the one on my 63 and used the original clips which were still rivited on the tunnel.

          Thanks for the address Chuck.

I don't have any tunnel insulation either, so I'll have to investigate that as well.

Every time I read a thread here at (NCRS), I discover some thing new, and things I never considered! That alone is worth the price of membership!

          Thanks, Mike S.

Yes, on the tunnel insulation. It was most certainly there.

I think the "splash shields" you've mentioned have been confused with the "heat shileds" that also exist on all mid-year exhaust pipes adjacent to the floor at the transmission, as far as I'm aware.
