I would like to install a duel bowl master cylinder in a 1960 Vette. The car is NOT power brake equipped and i dont want power brakes,I am also staying with my original drum brakes, I just want the duel bowl for safety. Can anyone who has done this job tell me a good product to use and what i will have to do for this conversion, any pitfalls or negatives i need to know

Re: Duel bowl master cylinder in a 1960 Vette
You emergency brake is your dual brake system . The duel master is for when you lose front brakes, you have rear brakes. And if you lose rear brakes you have front brakes.
Now if you lose front the emergency works rear.
If you lose rear cylinders you still have emergency brakes
If your master Cylinder fell out the Corvette , you still have EMERGENCY brakes.
And as I wrote in a past post, you can add a booster ( power brakes) for under $400 with no one knowing it and no modifications but to replace two short brake lines.- Top

I've used this kit from ECI with good results.

Re: Duel bowl master cylinder in a 1960 Vette
I realize you are right about the e brake, but first reaction when you lose your brakes is to pump the peddle and by the time you think about pulling the e brake, it could very well be to late, plus, if you lose a wheel cyl in the back , your e brake will hardly work due to brake fluid on your shoes- Top
