    Quanta belts

Just a quick question: What kind of experience has anybody had with Quanta belts? Are they known for slipping?

    Re: Quanta belts

    Don,

I have used them for NCRS judging without any issues. However, I have torn up a set when pushing the revs over 5000 rpm. In my opinion they are good for judging but not for sustained driving.

      Don,
Same here, good for the judging field but 6 grand rolled them over in the pulleys.

        Same here with my 71.

Now, having said, that, the Quanta belts on my 72 have about 3000 miles on them and work well. But then, that car usually does not get driven hard.

          Re: Quanta belts

I have a full set of Quanta belts on my 67 327/300 with P/S & AC. I drove my car from LI NY to Windsor Ontario Canada with the AC on and sustained speeds of up to 95 MPH without a problem. Prior to this trip I did purchase 2 Quanta belts (altenator) from a well known LI Corvette supplier that were generic in size, these belts jumped off and took the rest of the belts with them. I spoke with Quanta regarding this situation at Carlisle, they asked me to send them these belts for examination. I thought that they were stretching. Quanta advised me that they were the incorrect belts for my application. With this info I went back to the well known LI Corvette supplier and was told that they feel that the belts that they supplied worked just fine and no refund or exchange would be given. I have given them 0 business since then and would sell my car before I give them one more dime. Quanta made good on the belts and I have had no problems since. Bottom line is buy your Quanta belts from Quanta. They know their stuff IE: proper length and pitch.

            Re: Quanta belts

            Brian,

Have used and sold many Quanta belts with no problem until my 66 BB with AC. Belts did stretch and slip. That only becomes a problem with the belt from the water pump to crank as there is no adjustment. The belt is captured and when it stretches you have this screaming noise when the AC comes on. I cured that with a GM belt of the proper length and width.

I would give Quanta a A+ for service and application. Their belts are also dead on when it comes to originality. Just 40 years off on the dates.

Quanta does a great job and serves the Corvette community with pride.

            Regards,

            JR
