    Early 66 427 Valve cover - Indent?

I've got an early 66 427/390 (Jan 7,66 build date). The engine was produced Dec 9, 65.
I'm looking to purchase the correct painted valve covers because the car came with a set of chrome covers.
The reading I've done seems to indicate that from approx. Nov 65 to Jan. 66 all 427's came with the compressor indents even if the car ws not equiped with AC.

I'd like to confirm this understanding before I make the purchase.

    Thanks

    Gary

I thought they had the indent until near, or too, the end of 66 production?? Not 100% sure tho....

I just remembered one that was on a very late production 66 car. The red/red leather 9000 mile all original 390 HP conv that Dr. Bill Miller wound up with had a cover with the recess. Quite possible that this same style cover spilled over to early 67 also.

              Mike,

------Who has that car of Dr. Millers now? When that car came into the shop it had plumbing pipe for an exhaust system. Do you remember? Was it you that cut it all off? What a "Rube Goldberg" affair that was..........Bill S

I'll never forget the 2.5" iron pipe exhaust system on that car with all the elbows and unions. Wish I would have taken pictures of that system before it was removed. If I remember correctly, I sent the car out to have it cut off and replaced with GM "off road".

I often wonder where that car is today.
