    One more thing......

    you can't lay Dura Glass an inch thick, else, I think, it MAY crack in time, not sure, just speculation on my part.

        OK, I Will Stipulate...

        George,

        That Duraglass MAY be the best filler in the world, but filling HOLES with the stuff?...I ain't convinced. There is a big difference between filling your hood gaps and repairing a gaping opening. I ain't a teenager anymore, and I don't look forward to doing this stuff over and over just for the experience.

        It just stands to reason that the bonding area is much smaller in your Duraglass repair technique than it is with the old tried and true lamination technique. Hey, wait a minute...you and me (and others too smart to get involved again)...we have had this conversation before...de jevu all over again!

            You and I think alike......

            'casue in 10 years I'll be just as old and decrepid as The Dale is today, and I sure as hell don't want to EVER go through this again. To insure that my sunset years are free and void of any re-do's, I used....can ya guess what I used? I bet you can guess, and I bet ya know, don't ya? Patching holes, no problem as long as there is something solid on one side for Dura Glass to bond to, like a layer of cured fiber matt.

            I used the stuff to repair the hood corners on my 68, and it is documented that the 68's corners ALWAYS crack. We shall see how this holds up this year. The guy who turned sold me on FiberGlass Evercoat products was Chuck Mallet, yep the one and the same C5 tuner. Prior to his current venture, he was a drag racer and had a resto shop. Said the Evercoat resins are by far the best and won't crack.

                I was going to bond a scrap 'donor' piece of fiberglass to the underside of the antenna hole with the FUSOR panel bond, then fill in the hole on top with Duraglass, after I feathered it out of course. I am more comfortable with hte FUSOR than with layering mat. Does this sound like a reasonably intelligent way to go?
