    Generator ID

Found this generator today on a 62 Impala. Don't think it is the original, but it looks like the right configuration for a 62 high perf. #is: 1102096 9M. What's this supposed to go on? Thanks.

GM #1102096 was a 30 amp generator used on 1958 through 1962 Chevrolet passenger cars with 6 cylinder engines. It was also used on 58-59 series 3-4 trucks and on 60-62 series 10-40 trucks. This generator has solid mounts without rubber cushions if it's still configured as original. Of course, components could have been "mixed-and-matched" by now.

      Re: Generator ID

Thanks, Joe. one has the solid mounts and also the rather thin front flange, which looks very similar to the correct generators I've seen for the 62 HP applications. I think it will do until I find something better. (actually, it's hard to find a generator better than the alternator it has now)
