The tank stencil I purchased from LI Corvette has 3/4 in high letters. The remaining letters on the original tank are 1 in high. Has anyone else seen 1 in high letters?

My tank stenciled letters as measured on the original markings were 3/4 inch high. However, the alignment of the letters in the 2 lines did not match the typical purchased stencil. Stencils were made by hand on a stencil cutter so things could have "human error". -

Just as a point of interest. I've removed at least five known original mid year gas tanks and as of yet fail to discover a stencil on any one of the tanks. Is it possible that it was an identifer on a single tank on an entire skid full of tanks during shipment?Comment

I think that's very possible - I've pulled several known originals as well, and none of them had any stencil markings. I can't imagine taking the time and effort to hand-stencil every tank when only one tank in each rack needed to be identified so the hi-lo driver knew what he was moving around.Comment
