I need to replace my side pipes. I have heard that some replacements are louder than the originals and Long Island Corvette even warns you of that fact about theirs. Allen SS Exaust told me that their are the same as the originals. Does anyone have any experience with this or recommend any other vendors.

Re: 1967 BB side pipes
why not look around for a pair of new or slightly used old stock GM 's. saw several sets at corvettes at carlisle. they should be rather abundant, what with non-outside exhaust vettes, converted to outside then taking a big hit on judging field, then being switched back to under the car system as they were when they left st. louis. mike- Top

Re: 1967 BB side pipes
Jeff,
I purchased a set from Allen's SS Exhaust about a year ago for my 67 BB, and to this date still have no need of a hearing aid from Belltone. Each individual is different about what is excessive and what is more towards the original's installed in St Louis. The publication "Corvette 427" by Don Sherman,in his Postscript section said he performed a comparison between Allen's and a set from a new supplier from Corvette Central. The set from Corvette Central were 9 decibels quieter. He notes Stainless Work's in Chagrin Falls' Ohio Manufactured them. He also noted that he personally had a conversation with the owner of Stainless Works, who reported that his pipes could be made even quieter on special request. My personal opinion is i like the sound i get from Allen's product, from 3000 to 5800 rpm's, sweeeeeet sounds of 427 HP(my opinion).
