I have non working fuel/temp gauges (same pod) in my '58... I just received a set of (supposedly) working fuel/temp gauges from a '62. They will fit of course, but I see the '58's have a chrome circle in the middle and the 62s dont. I was thinking (is this possible?) of swapping the black face parts, but even those are slightly different in design. The car is a driver and Im trying to use repair parts that I have for the time being. Will these parts interchange?

Re: Solid-axle gauge swaps
Steve
The only difference I see in these gauges is that 58-59 needles were rounded and 60-62 were tapered. I believe also the lettering on the 62 is tinted towards green.Don't know what you mean by chrome circle. Post or send me a picture of your gauges.

Re: Solid-axle gauge swaps
I think the "chrome circle" is actually part of the lens assy. The gauges themselves can be swapped, the only difference being a slight change in the needle shape. Just pull the gauge itself out of the 62 unit and install in the 58 pod with the 58 lens and chrome filler. All this sort of sandwiches in there, witht gauge going in last. Not a difficult project.- Top

Re: Solid-axle gauge swaps
Thanks, Ed, thats helpful. The NCRS guide does not get into small gauge detail other than the "dots" vs the "dashes"...- Top
