C1 posi axles different than non-posi?

Can anyone please tell me if there is a difference between the axles used in the 57 Corvette posi and non-posi rears? Also, is there a difference in the axle bearings?
    Thanks

    David -

The original production axle shafts were unique between open and Posi differentials - the Posi axle shafts were 1/4" shorter. However, in the early 70's, GMPD commonized all '57-'62 Corvette axle shafts, both open and Posi, to one pair of axles (LH #3775689, 28-13/16", RH #3775690, 30-5/16") to service all applications. Posi axles originally use roller bearings, and open used ball bearings.
