I live with NY Road Salt and when the roads are coated with the white powdery residue it blows up under the car and finds all those little nooks and cranies to hide it. That way it can eat away at your frame even in the summer time. I use a preasure washer regularly on my daily drivers and don't let temptation get the better of me till the roads are clear of the stuff.
Someone mentioned fogging and I'm a believer in this to keep some lubrication on the top rings as well as the valves.
Braso Scrubby buds ( round pot scrubers) work great for keeping any critters out of the tailpipes.
I leave the doors ajar to relieve the compression on the weatherstrips.
