I want to replace the weather stripping on my doors and T-top on my 1969 Corvette. I have heard that some of the after market stripping is not good. Can anyone recommend a brand and place to purchase a good brand of weather stripping?

Re: weather stripping for 1969
Ann-----
Dr. Rebuild carries the best available weatherstripping for every application. He's figured out what the best repro stuff is for every application. Of course, others carry the same weatherstripping, too, but the Doc has the right stuff for the right application figured out the best. There are really only a few manufacturer's of reproduction weatherstripping. The "good doctor" might even have some NOS GM product left for your application if you want to go that route.
Since the "good doctor", himself, is retired, the chances are that if you call, you won't have to talk with him. This is a good thing; there's only 2 people in the world that get along with the doctor----me and another guy and the other guy's dead. After the good doctor became the "King of Cork", he got even more persnickety and "regal". Talk with Debbie; you'll relate to her.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: weather stripping for 1969
Ann:
Be aware that whoever you buy the t-top weatherstrip from, unless you get NOS, it will different from the original on your '69. The area over the door glass was a seperate piece. Any reproduction weatherstrip is like the '70 and later which is all one piece of soft rubber. What I did was to cut the door glass section off the reproduction set and re-use the hard seperate section. I was fortunate that this piece was in excellent condition. It takes some doing but worth it if yours is in good shape. Hope this helps.

Re: weather stripping for 1969
original w/s is the way to buy , sometimes expensive, not always . I know from experience that some prefer the new repro stuff for doors, the doors can be closed not slammed after install. If you can compress an original in the hand and you will easilly tell the denser/better product . I have also heard , only heard, there is some bogus dense product out there in the past , being passed off as original . the original will have yellow print marks saying made in Canada" I believe the original is the way to go and yes the doors are difficult to close at first untill the w/s is set. It will probably far out last the repro . Ann if you install yourself clean the rubbers and the area under the rubber extremely well , buy the 3M yellow glue and let it tack -up before installing, tape in the odd spot and also get some black w/s caulk from the auto glass people in the area , it is the stuff that does not dry hard , not a silicone , it is the black goo that you will encounter when pulling the "a" post weatherstrip. good gluin- Top
