There was a lot of discussion @ the Nationals last year ref the "second shoulder or HUMP"(61/62 tech manual pg 58)on the Delco --107 coil.I have talked owners of both early and late cars, seems the early ones don't have the second hump but the later ones do. Also have discussed this with some reputable NCRS dealers and they agree. Comments from the Black Hats?...thanks...jer

Re: '62 ---107 FI Coil
That was a running change, and as such, both styles could have been used over a period of time until all tooling was changed. It is important to note that the part of the coil you are referring to is not unique to the '107, but is shared with virtually all other Delco Remy coils. As such, the likelyhood of accurately determining a "clean" cutoff is slim. Certainly there was a migration from the first to the second type, but not likely a clean break.- Top

Re: '62 ---107 FI Coil
Humps are there to prevent washers from spinning. Early 107s used washers with a tab on them which fit into one of two holes on either side of the HV terminal. Therefore the humps weren't needed. We regularly deduct 1 originality point in judging for the coil with the humps. The Humpey coils are for later Corvettes and other internal combustion engine applications!
