Interior paint on midyears; flat finish?

When removing the seats from my 66 coupe I saw that the rear seat mounting brackets, bolts and reinforcing plates are painted the exterior body color (rally red in my case), but the paint on these items looks like a flat finish, not gloss or semi-gloss. Is this paint the same as the exterior paint, but simply in a flat finish? Would the Dupont paint code be the same? Or does the paint code change if the gloss level is different?

Could the paint on these undercarpet brackets and seat bolts be the same as the exterior paint and gloss, except it was never buffed out?

    Thanks,

    Gary

Dupont did have different numbered formulas for interior colors, even for different gloss variations. I dont know whether this actually applied to the production line or not. As for what paint is on them now, the trim line did paint a lot of interior pieces on the floor of the car. You usually can see their outlines on the floor where it was done. If the brackets were there at that time I guess it would be possible for them to have flat interior paint on them.

Where do I get Dupont code for interior colors?

      Wayne,

Do you have any idea where I would get the Dupont paint code for the interior (flat) version of rally red?

      Thanks,

      Gary

Gary, The seat brackets (for originality) should not be painted. Original seat frame slides and brackets are a phosphate plating, kind'a greyish (ranging from black to green) coloring. They were not painted at all. The upperand lower seat frames that the fabric is wraped around is painted black as well as the springs.

I should have them at the shop. I will check tomorrow.

            What about the floor pan?

            Gene,

I'm guessing that the rear seat U-shaped mounting brackets and underlying reinforcing plates that actually come in contact with the interior side of the floor pan were probably painted haphazardly when some of the floor pan was sprayed, again haphazardly. My car still has the original carpet, seats, and seat mounting hardware and bolts, so I've got to think that these items were sprayed flat red during the original assembly process. Is it documented somewhere that the inside floor pan received some kind of spray paint coverage and this could account for some of the seat mounting bolts getting sprayed in the process?

            Thanks,

            Gary

Re: What about the floor pan?

I just looked at a couple of examples today, both 66`s. Infact the flat plate was there during the paint process but the u bracket was not because I found paint on top of the mounting holes where the bracket goes. So the U bracket would be the Oxide finish.
