    63 Steering Stabilizer

I would like to know what the color of the Steering Stablizer should be. The blue 63-64 JG says it was painted gray. The one from my 63 was painted Black and has a date coad 9A62 That I think would be 9 January 62? How could this be? The part # on it is 3178100 and I think it was origional based on the coating of grease and dirt that protected most of the paint. All others that I have seen were also painted Black. What is right? What is the stabilizer's bracket to the frame finish? mine apeares to be natural, never painted. I will be asking alot of questions over the next year as I continue with my frame off restoration. I am in the very begining having just started on the frame, working from the front to the back. Thanks to everyone in advance.
