Re: tank sticker
tank stickers first appeared on corvettes in 67. it's a piece of paper glued to the left top on the gas tank and lists the various features that were built into the car at the factory. mike- Top

Re: tank sticker
A tank sticker will document the original equipment shipped and installed on a vehicle...except base equipment. I believe speedo gears were shipped (actually installed) based on rear axle ratio equipped with vehicle and referenced on the build sheet (tank sticker). So, an 85 mph speedometer is base but depending on rear axle, will reference the speedo gear. You can quickly see if you've got a 140 mph retro speedometer...your guess is as good as ours once its been "fixed."
I'm not familiar with "questys" There has been some recent threads on "tank stickers" do a search and you should pull them up.Tom Russo

Re: tank sticker
Changing from the 85 to 140 speedo head doesn't require any other changes - the 140 head will read the same speed the 85 head did, assuming both are working properly. If there's a big difference in actual-vs.-indicated with one, it will be the same with the other. Someone may have changed the axle ratio and never made the corresponding change in the speedo driven gear, which is the only thing that alters the speedo reading.- Top

Re: tank sticker
Find a person to get out on the highway with a reliable speedometer and have the set the cruise on the posted speed limit and get behind them and see if you are seeing the same.- Top

Re: tank sticker/speedometer issue
Thank you very much for your input I like all of the answers. Since I am new Im not sure what is supposed to be where. Im concerned that the milage could also be incorrect if the speedometer was a changeout from 85 to 140 . These models were notorious for eating up speedometer cables with the cruise control also. The previous owner may have delayed fixing it. 17000 miles on an 80 seems too good to be true . Although the brake pedals are not worn and the spark plugs and belts were original. As far as I can tell everything else looks low milage too. This speedo issue is not significant enough to loose sleep over. I just like to know every thing I can since the last owner was not really full of information Dan- Top
