    67 Vin Tag Area

On my 67 Coupe, under the glove box where the VIN and Trim Tag are located, the bar that those tags are connected to has some yellowish-green paint showing. Is this something from the factory or perhaps a sign that my car was repainted yellow at some time? Any help with this is appreciated.

yes I gues you caould call it olive green now that I look at it again. Would the primer be in that area? looks like it has black there too (olive green) is on the bottom of bar, black is in the front where the tags are. I am ignorant when it comes to 67's and noticed this when I was looking at the VIN tag. I just recently bought this 67 and have spent too much time with "Sharks" where a lot of things are different.

      Thanks Brandon!

The olive yellow primer was applied at the factory. I think it zinc-chromate.

Then they painted the underdash frame black? THe reason for my question is that it looks like the primer is on the bottom of that frame bar but the front where the VIN tag islocated is painted black.

I have seen original, unrestored cars that had both black paint and the green primer on different areas of that bar. I'm not sure what the order of operations was, or the reasons for the various paints. It doesnt sound like yours was from a sloppy repaint job though.

The cage assy, of which the vintag mounting bar is a part, is zinc chromate (olive color) painted. You should also see that paint color in the cage areas above the frame under the doors. The bar was painted black in the vintag area during the blackout process of the car, to "dress up" that area as it shows when seated in the passenger seat.

                    Mike,
Can't see the VIN and Trim tags in the pictures. If you removed them, how will you re-install? Looking at the pix was that a car blue?

It is an eBay picture. You find lots of things to buy there, including cars with no VINs and Trim tags.

From the pictures, I'd say it was blue once. From where it is, I'd say "from the pictures" it appears that may be the original color.

                        Mike,

Thanks for the excellent visual. That is very close to how mine looks. Of course mine has the VIN and Trim tags attached!!
