    Mike,

Bairs might have one. They do a lot of transmission and Differential rebuilding/swapping. (814)683-4223 or www.bairs.com

      Mike,

OOOOOOOPS, you said C4. I think Bairs only goes to 82. Sorry

That depends? At $1,000 for a complete rearend, NO! At $2,500 for a complete rearend maybe? Those rearends have become difficult to find and EXPENSIVE! Everyone seems to want them for the new breed of Corvette chassis. Personally, I am using a Dana 36 under my aftermarket midyear frame.

Send me an email and I will direct to someone who may have one.

Mike I agree on the price. Any D44 that can be bought for less than $1500 is usually a pretty good buy. I ended up going with a D36 on my 59 as well since I was using a 4L60E trans, but a more powerfull engine or a 6 speed, calls for a D44. The street rod guys snap these things up as quick as they come on the market. Try some Corvette only salvage vendors, but be prepared to pay top dollar for one. I am looking for one right now for my 65 project car that is going to start in a couple of months, but I have the luxury of waiting for the right deal to come along. You might try Ikerds, they allways seem to have a lot of C4 front and rear ends.

thanks john, jeff and mike. i got on ikerds website. they have the d44s and will install ring and pinion of choice but they sure have a high regard for the value of their butts. this ole 41 willys pickup has a nos 95 lt5 and zf-6 so i guess the d 36 will grenade first time the loud pedal falls. will keep looking/ mike

I wish I had seen your post a little eariler. There was a nice, completely rebuilt D44 with brand new 3.90 gears in it, that sold on Ebay tonight for $1800. I will keep my eyes open for one for you. That is, of course, unless it is a real bargain, in which case I will buy it! LOL

Sounds like you're better off buying the C4 car with the diff under it, and parting out what you don't need when trying to do one of these resto rods.

                  Hi Mike,

try JUST CORVETTES in St.Louis. They're parting C4 out.

If it's not going into a stock C4, you may want to consider buying a late C3 hogshead (the frame mount is different, but you can adapt your frame to use it) for a lot less money, and get the D44 cover/mount assembly from the C4.

mark: not too familiar with late c-3 diferentials but are you implying the later c-3's used a dana 44? thanks, mike
