Dip Stick tube for 65 Fuel Injection

Was the dip stick tube for the 1965 Fuel Injected engine plain or was it chrome??? Different corvette catalogs show both, which is correct.

    Thanks,
    Floyd,
    65 Fuelie

    Floyd,

Definitely not chrome. Some say painted black and others say plain but I know it wasn't chrome. I believe 63-64 were black and 65 was natural.

Dip stick tube for 64 FI was crome, known its not helping to ans your 65 question, however one of your responses mentioned 64 as not being crome! If anyone still disagrees with my ans for crome 64 - please, please contact me. My 64 FI was purchased in 1966 with the crome dip stick and I don't believe ever changed, however . . .

          Alan,,

I can tell you with absolute certainty, the correct finish on ANY 63-67 Corvette dip stick tube was not chrome. In the 60's, it was quite common for owners of new Corvettes to modify items under the hood, including chrome for things like hood supports, master cylinder covers and anything else that was easily removed. There was only one part number for that tube in 64 and it was not chrome. The F.I. cars had the same part number tube as all the other engines.

Re: Dip Stick tube - Michael correct sorry

Misunderstood the question, my tube is natural, however I replaced it in 1972 and I'm unable to recall the finish. Sorry Michael.
