59 Driver side rear AXLE leak

First off the history of this car is that it has been hit.

The offending axle bearing has been replaced TWICE- once by the previous owner with a follow up of what must have been a tube of permitex, then another bearing by me. I should also say that the press fit ring holding the bearing had to be tack welded in place- same on the previous bearing.

Any thoughts on why this is still leaking ? What would be the next logical step ? replace the axle? which brings up the question what chevy axles will fit a 59 ?

Coulld it be that the differential housing was damaged in the wreck. Looking at the inner part of the housing that the bearing slides into I can see two scuff marks but it looked like the two outer bearing seals should still seal it.

Thanks for any guidance you can provide.

As far as I know you can use 57 and 58 passenger axles. The 55 and 56s are a little longer and may need a little ground off of the splined end. I think in 59 the passenger car axles were longer.
