Are original KH steel wheels dated 3-65 correct for a 66 built in Nov 65? What is an acceptable date range? Thanks.

Re: C2 steel wheel date
Unless a given Judging Guide states a specfic date objective for a given car/part OR the part is covered in the NCRS Judging Reference Manual (the 'white' book) specifically regarding acceptable dating, the general rule is parts should preceed the applicable assy (in this case the final assy date of the vehicle) by 0-6 months. In your question we have a March '65 date code wheel installed on a Nov '65 car and that's roughly an 8-month interval....
Now, you have to ask yourself IF the date code can be determined during judging. Typically, these steel wheels were dated on the inside, between the tire beads, and with a tire mounted cannot be seen/read. Later steel wheels (Shark era rally wheels) were dated on the outside rim near the valve stem and those dates CAN be read, especially on the spare where no trim ring is installed....- Top
