    C1 Paint inside hood

The color that comes into the inside of the hood about 1 inch.
Does it go all the way around?
Was the color painted first and then masked before painting the inside black?
    Was it about 1 inch?
(Finally gonna have paint this Saturday!)

    Larry,

I just did my '58 hood based on previous posts on this board. My understanding is that the lip under the hood was painted body color all around and then a mask was put in place to cover the entire lip and the rest was painted semi-gloss black. Also in the posts, Krylon semi-flat black # 1613 was one of the paints recommended. I got mine from Sherwin-Williams. It came in a rattle can. They make Krylon I am told. Since they used a mask to cover the body color, I doubt you would have a perfect separation between body color and the semi-flat black. I'm sure others will post, so lets see where this goes and see if I have to do something differently. Hope not!

      Larry,
The body color was put on first and then the blackout was performed. The blackout line is about at the radius where the hood changes direction about 1" from the edge. The blackout margin does not go all the way around the hood. The mask was kind of a "U" shaped mask that slipped on from the cowl end of the hood. The grille end of the hood gets black all the way to the edge. The line of demarcation for paint margin is about even with the hood hinges. The judges really like to see a fuzzy mask line, and a sharp tape mask line will probably draw some point deduct. I usually mask the line with tape, but then fuzz it up with an airbrush to make it look like original.

        John,

Thanks for the clarification on the front lip. Guess I missed that one. Will get out the rattle can and correct it.
