My Sons 1996 has lost the ability to respond to the key FOB. The Key FOB is good. The dealer has indicated that the in car receiver/transmitter is bad. OK, but why are they insisting it is unavialable! For over 7 monthsnow. does anyone know where I could get one? OR, how the system works in a little bit more detail? Also it would greatly help if I knew the location in the car of this unit. Here is what I think from my analysis of the FOB. 1. It relies on the car sending a transmission of low frequency sub 200 KHz. carrier for activation. I know this because of the 200 or so turns of # 32 wire around the perimiter of the transmitter FOB. 2. It also contains what looks like GUN diode for the higher frequency transponding data FROM the FOB to the car. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Key FOB in CAR TRANSCIEVER
The CCM Central Control Module is behind the center instrument panel behind the radio control head. The PKE Pasive Keyless Entry Module is behind center instrument panel behind driver information center. You could check with www.contemporycorvettes.com, they should have used parts you are looking for.- Top
