    generator paint?

I agree with the two previous responces. However I would not go by the prices of PRO TEAM. We have a Black/Saddle 67 327/350 in our garage. We live in Cleveland and we have visited them many times. The ads that they print make their cars sound incredible. Lets just say that they know how to S T R E T C H the truth. I have seen 35 to 50 thousand dollar cars that would not 2nd or 3rd flight. I would have an experienced local chapter member go with you to look at the car before spending that hard earned cash.

    generator paint?

What's the correct finsh on a generator? Semi-gloss or gloss? Are the end bells finished or natural? What about fan and pulley? When mine came back from the shop it was completely gloss black, but I don't think that's correct........

      Re: generator paint?

Ed, You did not provide the year/model number of the generator you are inquiring about, however the 1102043 generator housing is painted a semi-flat black, with the rear cast iron end frame painted a low-grade gloss black. The front end aluminum frame as well as the tach drive is unpainted. Both end frames have an unpainted oiler installed in the top edge. For the 290HP car, the generator is painted as indicated above, however the cast iron front frame is painted a low grade gloss black, and it will not have a tach drive unit.

All of this information is availble in the NCRS Technical Information Manual and Judging Guide which can be obtained from the NCRS office.

This would be for a 62 360 hp car. Presume it is the same as the 290?

          Low Grade Gloss Black

Where can I buy some of that stuff? Every time I ask for it they get insulted at the PPG store!

            2268 Is Your Generator

1962 FI Corvette. The main body is medium gloss or semi flat or semi gloss or whatever you want to call it! The ends are more glossy. The ends were manufactured, painted and zinc bearing with cover (on rear) installed separately from where the rest of the generator was assembled. When judging, the presence of a sharp contrast in shades of black is visually pleasing. The Gits Bros. oiler caps are zinc plated and installed after all painting.

            Dale.

Dale, Is the aluminum front frame painted? Seems to be a conflict of info here.

                Re: Low Grade Gloss Black

Ed, The differences are attributable to the different configurations for year and horsepower. For your applications (ie 1962 with fuel injection) as stated, the front frame is painted.

                  Front Frame

isn't aluminum on a 2268. It's cast iron and painted.
