1972 LT1 Heads

I recently purchased a '72 LT1 that was available here in Austin, TX. It is a very nice, clean coupe that has heads (3927816) that were cast in August of '69. I know that these are not original heads, but for some reason they were changed out. What is the difference between the 3927816 heads that are on my car and the correct 3998916 heads that should be in place? The rest of the car is very nice and original including the block, transmission and rear end.

Do you mean 3927186 (not 3927816)? The original '72 LT-1 916 heads had 76cc chambers, and the 7186 heads have smaller 63cc chambers (same size as the original high-compression '70 LT-1 heads).
