Just wanted to give an update on a possible cure for the stalling issue I had with my '64. The engine would stall from a standing starting after reaching about 210 degrees with the A/C running. I was completely stumped about the cause but I think Roy Braatz had the answer.
Roy suggested that pretty paint on the distributor was preventing a proper ground and creating the problem. Th distributor on C2's is grounded by contact between the distributor clamp and distributor body whereas a separate ground wire was used for earlier models. My distributor was in fact recently rebuilt and freshly painted. A few scrapes with my trusty screw driver and an extra turn or two on the clamp bolt later seems to have cured the problem. No stalls since. Seems too easy, so I am not issuing an official "cured" pronouncement until a few more test runs but I am pretty optimistic.
I always like to read about what suggested cures actually work so I thought I would take the time to pass this one on since it must be a very common problem. Thanks for the tip Roy!
