Somewhat related to my recent post regarding my search for 68-only seat belt guides and reinforcements, but applicable to various single-year or difficult to find parts - is there any way or has anyone had experience acquiring the engineering drawings from GM so that a private individual (not reproduction companies like Paragon) can manufacture/duplicate parts (for personal use).

Re: Chevrolet Engineering Drawings
The drawing system is considered GM proprietary. Only those with 'need to know' authorization have access. Authorization includes current working GM designers, GM reproduction licensees and 'special' folks like those doing books/articles (Noland Adams is one example) who've been background checked and approved.
It's a pity there isn't a mechanism for the serious restorer to gain access (perhaps on a pay for access basis) through a 'control point' (the National Corvette Museum??) to help us in our hobby.... But, that's the way things are.- Top

Re: Chevrolet Engineering Drawings
You would probably have better luck getting them if you were a company trying to make reproduction parts. Then you could apply to be a Chevrolet-licensed vendor and produce the parts. However, the license fee would no doubt make it necessary for you to forget any idea of making only one set for yourself.- Top
