    67 ralleys...Lug Centric Balancing?

Just opened the boxes with my new ralley wheels. A sticker on each wheel says the manufacturer recommends Lug Centric balancing. What is that? I've heard of
static, dynamic, bubble and spin balancing, but not this.

Is there a certain amount of runout that is acceptable in a rim. I plan to
check each of them to be sure they are true before mounting the tires.

What length valve stem is recommended on these ralley wheels?

    Thanks in advance. Pat

    Pat -

Most wheel balancing machines locate the wheel on a cone through the center hub hole - this is "hub-centric" balancing. Adapters are available for these machines which locate the wheel with tapered pins through the lug stud holes - this is "lug-centric" balancing, which is more accurate in terms of identifying runout and radial force variation issues. Any shop that has a Hunter GSP9700 balancer will have the adapter for "lug-centric" balancing; this machine measures radial and lateral runout as well as radial force variation, all of which are completely independent of actual dynamic balance.

GM specs for radial and lateral runout on late 60's wheels were .035"-.045" T.I.R. (total indicated runout).

The Hunter site at the link below has a locator to find a shop/dealer near you that has a Hunter GSP9700 machine.

Thanks John. The dealer locator shows a shop (Honda Dealer) not even 10 minutes from my store, and they are one of my customers. I will call them Monday.

Anbody know the "correct' valve stem length for '67 ralley wheels?

      Thanks again.
