    66 427 Water Pump Bolt & Flange

The 1966 427/425 water pump is mounted against the block on the passenger side with one hex head bolt and one bolt that has a stud protruding from it. What is the stud for and is it mounted on the outside mounting hole - i.e. the one closest to the inner fender. Also - the Judging manual calls for a flat rear plate on the back of the water pump - however I have seen many that have a flange edge. Are both plates correct depending upon production dates?

Peter, If '66s are like '69 BB engines, the stud is used to mount a fuel filter support bracket.
