I've sent my orig 62 voltage regulator to John Pirkle as suggested....He told me to insure it for $800. I've never paid much attention to this sort of thing, but am I missing something...? $800 for a voltage regulator.?????

Re: '62 Voltage Regulator
John - If it's a correct 002E dated regulator, that's not out of line. I've seen correct NOS ones at Carlisle on their way to $1000. Big John knows the availabilty of cores (i.e. none) which supports hs recommendation. Yes, any 35 amp regulator will work, but......your call. Regards, Dick- Top

Re: '62 Voltage Regulator
Thanks for the response Dick.....It's very hard to believe. Yes this is the originial regulator .... I only replaced it once since I bought the car new. Something prompted me to keep it. I haven't researched dates, but I believe the stamping of 1L is probably the date and that corresponds to all of the other late 1961 casting dates........my car was an early 62 production. THANKS again....Maybe I'll just sell it once John rebuilds it....(?) THANKS, J- Top

Re: '62 Voltage Regulator
I know nothing about a 62 V.R and if it's worth $800.00 , are they that rare?
But try locating a 55 Corvette V.R ( a one year only 12V Delco where the cover bolts go through the top cover corners) like a 6V 53 to 54 V.R that is more common but still vary hard to find.
