    72 Speedo question

My speedometer is oscillating between 50 and 70 mph at a constant 55 mph. Is this an indication of certain cable failure or is the speedo at end of life? I have never seen this one before. The cable usually snaps and the speedo stops.

    Re: 72 Speedo question

Bill, I had a similar problem in my 66 and all I did was to pull the speedo cable out and clean the tube and relube. It was a LOT easier getting to it than the one on my 72. Often an erratic speedo is indicative of a bent cable or one that is binding. Gary 21316

Bill , speedometer "bounce is a common ailment. It is usually the cable or the little plastic wheel piece in the transmission side of the cable. Lube the cable first.

Thanks. I will pull it out and lube it up.
