    2x4 carbs

Since my last question must have been to techinal for you guys that have a crossover pipe on your early vettes i will ask another unrelated question about 2x4 carbs. Here goes, when i pull the the rear carb all the way back the front carb doesent open the hole way, it is about 85% open, there is no more adjustments in the linkage, is the front carb susposed to be at full throttel or is this normal. If i could set them to open the same (wide open) by altering the linkage they both would open at the same time. How would you adjust them so both are at full throttel at the same time without having them both open at the same time.

The linkage has a provision for adjusting the point at which the front carb begins to open, assuming you have the original style progressive linkage. If not, it is available in reproduction. Also, there are two attachment points on the bellcrank for the linkage. The one closest to the pivot point causes the throttle plates to open quicker.
