'68 Convert Battery Compartment

The JG says that on the subject seal, "...ends of seal should be evident." My repo seal is of course a single looped piece so I will need to cut it in one or more places.

1. How many pieces of rubber seal were originally in place around the perimeter of the battery compartment?

2. Any particular location for the splice(s) around the perimeter?

Charlie I just took a look at my original owner 68 and 70 with orignal seals still in place for the battery compartment lid.
The 68's seal has one ending of the seal located at the middle screw of the three screws that retain the lid hinge to the frame and screw into the floor body. These screws are chrome and phillips head. There is a gap of about an inch of no seal and from there the seal is continious to the end. Using a less that real bright flashlight, it appears the ends are a clean cut and not torn. These would have to be examined more closely to determine if it was installed this way, or became this way over the years.
My 70 is laid our different. The seal starts at the inboard rear corner and runs continously around the perimeter to this same rear inboard corner and the end runs right up to the beginning of the seal touching it.
