Late '63 Intake Manifold Anomaly

The cast iron 3844459 intake was introduced on the 300HP engine late in the 1963 model year. It was phased in as the 3799349 intake was phased out and continued to be used through 1965. Most 3844459's I've seen have a round boss cast into the runner just behind the carb and adjacent to the casting number that has been drilled and tapped for what must have been a vacuum source on some non-Corvette applications. On the 300HP Corvette, at least the ones I'm aware of, these holes are plugged.

I recently bought an early 3844459 dated G13 (July 1, 63). The cast boss is there, but it is not drilled/tapped and obviously there is no plug. Can anyone tell me if this might be correct for the late '63 Corvette? Or is this some other non-Corvette application for this manifold? Thanks a lot!

Late '63 / Early '64 300 HP Intake

Let me try this again. A picture is worth... etc. etc. etc.

This is cast 3844459 and dated July '63. But note the bump on the runner behind the carb mount. If you have a late '63 or early '64 Corvette with a 300 HP engine, is yours like this? Or is it drilled, tapped, and plugged?
