    60 Convertible Top Frame

I'm fairly certain that my 60 was originally a hardtop only car and someone, somewhere along the line added the softtop. While restoring it, I had to order new header bow to side frame brackets because mine were broken. I was surprised when I received the new ones because they look nothing like the ones I took off.

My question is, was there a difference in the softtop frames in 58/59 and 60? In looking at the marginal drawings in my 60 assembly manual, the side frame bracing looks different from mine as well.

    Thanks,

I pretty sure the soft top frames were the same 1958 through 1960. I'm positive the 1959 frame is the same as the 1960.

      Thanks Dale,

I have one more question for you. Since I've taken the soft top frame apart to re-finish it, and I've ordered all new hardware, bushings, etc. do you know of any detailed instruction that will assist me in putting this mechanical nightmare back together?

Only detailed instruction I know is to bundle it up and ship it to Tom Crockatt. I admire your courage but actually, it's an easy job.. The last one I did gave me a fit drilling and tapping out all the cap screws I broke off on the pads.

Good luck and use DP-90 with high gloss John Deere aerosol.

        Dale.

          Dale,

To coin a phrase, The greatest sources of knowledge will always cause you to have more questions...

What is DP-90? And, I assume high gloss John Deere aerosol is a paint. Where does one acquire such animals?

          Thanks again,

          Bob

DP-90 is a self etching epoxy catalized black primer from any PPG paint store. JD high gloss black is from the John Deere lawnmower and farm equipment store. Their BLITZ BLACK is a PERFECT match for the blackout paint used at St. Louis! John Deerre paints are the highest quality aerosols I've EVER used!
