    Green Primer

Since Zinc Oxide primer is almost impossible to find now, what are guys using for a substitute? I see Quanta sells a sythentic green oxide spray can but I don't know what it looks like, any comments?

    Thanks.

I found some in a catalogue for Sporty's Pilot Shop. It was actual spray zinc-chromate primer used on aircraft. I've used it, works and looks great. Don't get their catalogue anymore, but perhaps another aircraft owners' supplier's catalogue may carry it if they don't anymore.

Good find Rob. I've also found a lot of the original green zinc-chrom in quarts at aircraft surplus outfits. There seems to be no shortage at these places.

When I repainted my 68 and 70 I used a product by Dupont to spray on the stripped to bare aluminum parts like the headlights. It may not be still available since this was years ago. It comes in a spray can and is green. It is a highly corrosion-resistant acrylic lacquer type primer for uce under standard refinishing systems, especially in critical areas to prevent rusting. It is 215S acrylic primer. I also used it on the windshield frame sections when they were refinsished and has held up for many years. This product was recommended to me by a professional bodyman/painter.
