I am installing a new ignition harness in my 62 (with a fusible link) and am having some trouble in routing the harnesss under the dash. The AIM shows some J-clips that retain the harness to the underside of the dash which my car does not have. Where are these clips supposed to be mounted exactly? I have some studs that protude from a metal cross-car brace to which the hinge asm for the cowl vent mounts. I suspect that J-clips attach to these studs. Also, how is the ignition harness supposed to be routed relative to the cowl vent handle/lever asm?
6 clips are attached to the windshield mounting bolts, these clips locate the harness across the under side of the dash. The 2 front braces have one clip each. The main harness routing will be will above the cowel lever. One break out for the courtesy light , radio, & heater will be forward of the cowel lever however. Be sure and get this break out at the proper place, for the wires will be short if you do not. On a '61, the Tach cable, antenna cable & wiper hose runs across in the same clips.
