You have mail
Mike,
It's on it's way to you in email. I'll also post it on the DB later. Have to finish cutting the lawn before it gets too hot out there.

Winter and other scary thoughts
No thanks. We had our first taste of winter yesterday. It's been in the mid 80's here every day but Friday, the temp dropped to a high of 72 and plunged to a near record low in the 50's over night. Old people were out covering plants and checking their antifreeze. Jumper cable sales soared and the streets were deserted by 9:00 PM. Should be back to normal tomorrow.- Top

Re: Shovel my snow --- I'll cut your lawn
I might take you up on that. My lawn man went to Afghanistan and i can't get the mower to run after sitting for 3 years.
But the snow shovel is in good shape and ready to go.
The wife would like to see me leave for awhile also, like 6 months or a year or so.- Top

Re: 63-65 F.I. S-Tube screws
Michael, the screws in your picture seem to be incorrect. 1963-1964 NCRS Technical Information Manual& Judging Guide, reads as follows"S" tube is attached to the core support with 4 black phosphate hex-head sheet metal screws, known originals have headmark of this early type is "M". After approximately 1963 Vin#9000,a black phosphate "hi-hat" recessed hex-head sheet metal screw is used. These were used till 1965. I have some "hi-hat" screws that I can post a picture of if you want.- Top

Re: No, It's The Correct Screw....
...It's the manual that's incorrect. There's been quite an ongoing debate on this subject but if you check with a few owners of all original cars, you'll find that the "L" head screw continued all the way through the 63 model year and into the 64 cars. I've never seen an "M" head screw of this design.
I think it would be an excellent idea if you were to start a new fresh post on this subject and ask for input from all who own these original cars. Ask if anyone with an all original 63 has thee "M" head marking or the tall 1/4" head. I'll sit back and not get involved until the end. I'd really like to straighten this out and maybe the manual can finally be corrected.
I have one original 64-65 tall screw here so no need to send info or pic.
Thanks, Michael- Top
