    C2 Serial # Ranges

My 67 is serial # 122374 which in the Spec Guide is a "July Car". The vin Tag Is K21. On the other hand, "K" would be a June car. Am I reading something wrong? Thanks to all responces, Bill #20328

    Bill,
No....I don't think you are reading anything wrong assuming you have the correct information from the right places. Your VIN. number will give you the Car's final assembly date at St.Louis. The K 21 on the TRIM TAG(not the VIN.tag)will give you the Body build date in either St.Louis or Ionia for an A.O.Smith built body.

      Bill,

My 67 327/300 conv VIN is 22049, has K19 on the trim tag, 0626 on the engine stamp pad, and calculates to June 29,1967 as the assembly date. It's an A. O. Smith body.

I've been looking for someone with a VIN after mine. What's your engine size, carburetor list no., and carb date code if it's still original.

There's a birthday calculator at one of the chapther sites based on the VIN. Maybe someone will post the site.

K21 makes sense with a July 5th final assembly date if it's an A.O. Smith body ("A" prefix on the body number on the trim tag).

          Bill,

You should have asked questions like this Saturday when I was looking at the car.

K21 would be June 21 and the Wisc. NCRS Birthday Calculator shows your VIN as July 5. That is 14 days between the body and the assembled car. This is not that far off. If the body was an A. O. Smith body, then 14 days would be completely normal. Even St. Louis bodies often had several days between. And of course, this is why the body date can only be used as an idea of when the car was built.

BTW, keep the tan top. It works very well with the tan interior, and looks great.
