Re: ZF6 tranny Yolk
Mike-----
Are you talking about egg yolks or transmission yokes? Assuming that it's the latter (I don't know anything about egg yolks, anyway, except that I shouldn't be eating them), here's the deal:
Believe it or not, the transmission yokes for C4 Corvettes were never and are not now available from GM as a seperate part. They are sold only as part of the driveshaft assembly which also includes u-joints. The driveshaft assembly, including transmission yoke, for 1989-96 Corvettes with the ML-9 manual transmission (i.e. the ZF 6 speed) is uniquely applicable to those applications and the yoke included with it is not the same as that used for earlier manual transmission or any automatic transmission applications. I don't think that the ML-9 yoke was used for any other application, either, but I'm not 100% certain of that. I can tell you, for sure, that the driveshaft assembly with yoke was not used for any other application, but that's to be expected.
If I were you, I'd check with an aftermarket supplier like Spicer to see if they have the correct yoke available seperately. I would think that someone would. On the other hand, the ZF-6 speed was used only in Corvettes and only for the 1989-96 period. That limits the aftermarket sales potential pretty severely.
In case you're interested, the current part number for the driveshaft assembly with yoke is GM #12557818 and it GM lists for $343.54.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: ZF6 tranny Yolk
joe: thanks and as usual you were the one i expected would answer the question. i hate to keep asking questions i could answer myself if i had a c-4 parts book which my local cevy dealer says is only available on his computor discs. how did you acquire your "modern" parts books and if i can also get them for my personal use, i'd be grateful for the way to go about geting them.thanks again, mike.- Top

Mike-----
My C4 P&A Catalogs were obtained when they were still available from GM (through 1993). Afterwards, on microfiche until it was discontinued about a year ago.
The C4 catalogs of various year ranges appear for sale from time-to-time on eBay.In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top

Re: ZF6 tranny Yolk
in case anyone needs a yolk for their ZF 6 speed tranny, Turbo 400 trannys use the identical spicer yolk. they are still available from GM but the wrecking yards are full of them. look for an Olds, Caddy , Buick or Pontiac(mid 1960's thru late 1970"s) with turbo 400. Chevy installed turbo 400 but they are rare as hen's teeth as they are a popular drag tranny. mike- Top

Re: ZF6 tranny Yolk
Dave: been told by driveshaft fabricators the TH400 yolk is still available from GM for about 70 bucks. guy at local tranny rebuild shop gave me one today. i suspect they could be had for ten bucks at salvage yards. they may be scarce but not rare.if ebay will give a hundred bucks for one, i might take off work next week and go junk yarding. regards, mike- Top

Re: all big block chevys cars and trucks
Clem, Correct, but the TH400 was not used just behind big block's. It was also used other light duty applications, besides Corvette's. For example, I know it was used behind the 250 cubic inch, 6 cylinder engines in 1980 C15 pickups. FWIW. Dave- Top
