C1 motor mount, why would somebody....

cut a notch in the pass side front support? Before I fix it, I thought I should ask if there is a purpose for handiwork such as this. Do you think Bubba may have worked on my car? Thanks.

      Pat,
Just a wild guess, but in the old days when the boys drag raced their hot rods, there was a procedure to by-pass the motor mount with a piece of chain that went from the engine bolt to the frame.

The chain was kept pretty tight and it was used to keep the engine torque from trying to rotate the engine upward and pull the rubber motor mount apart.

As I said, just an educated guess.

      Regards,
      Gene

In Ca. back in the late 60's many people added OLDS, Buick and Cad engines in C1 Corvettes.

Wrong fuel pump and they need clearance for the fuel line, maybe?
