    Battery Tender Question

    Hello Everyone:

    Ref: '66 L-72

I have a question, should I remove (or keep the battery in place) while I have my battery connected to a battery Tender over the winter months.

Last winter I had a repo-tartop vented type battery which I did remove because I was concerned about acid vapour being emited into the engine bay and I needed to repair the battery tray.

This year, I have a new sealed maintenance free GM battery and I'm asking the advise of the board. Should this battery be removed, or can I safely leave it the car and just disconect the cable(s)?

As usual, thanks for your help.

    Best regards,
    Kurt Neiman

      Re: Battery Tender Question

You should disconnect the battery, but I see no need to remove it from the car.
It's a PIA on SB cars since you usually have to remove the expansion tank and heater hoses.

Another thing you can do is connect the Battery Tender to a timer and only run it for about four hours in the afternoon - the warmest part of the day.
