I have what I believe are the correct front wheel cylinders which are numbers 821 and 822. They have a 7/16" inlet. The only reproduction rubber hoses I can find are 3/8" on the male end. Am I missing something.????

Re: 61 front wheel cylinder help needed
Do you have std brakes or HD metallic? Casting for std brakes is 5459527 & 528, 1 3/16 dia all 1960-62. The '821 castings are used with the metallic brake systems The proper hose for all is 3696551, 7/16X20 external thread and 3/8X24 internal thread, 17" O/L (same as '55-57 Chevy), at least per the '65 Parts bookBill Clupper #618- Top

Re: 61 front wheel cylinder help needed
what you have are 49-50 chevy pass car wheel cylinders which have same casting # as you rpo vette BUT they take the larger brake line tubing and flare nut chevy used in 49 and 50.. you can get adaptors to allow the chev pass car cylinders BUT the judges will catch it. i bought a purpotedly orig nos wheel cyl for my 61 rpo vette several years ago from a guy in , i believe ohio. they were as you describe and as i have a 49 coupe and a 50 convert, i immediatly recognized their origin. i called the seller, informed him of their non-vettte application, returned them to him for full refund. mike- Top

Re: 61 front wheel cylinder help needed
Mike,
These were bought on EBAY. Seller represented them as being correct for my 61 when I asked the question prior to bidding. Obviously I didn't realize there were 2 versions of the same part and I'm sure the seller didn't either. I'll contact the seller who is an NCRS member and see what happens. Thanks again for the clarification.- Top
