I use to think that the Fram was just as good as the AC Delco. Was I wrong!

Yes, this oil filter study has been around for quite awhile and I think that we've discussed it before. I do think that the author may have expanded it since the last time I looked at it, though.

I did a smaller scale similar "study" for my own purposes MANY years before the author of this study did his. I arrived at just about the same conclusions, though. I NEVER used or recommended anything but AC oil filters after that on any of my cars.

Keep in mind, though, that the now-discontinued "UPF"-series, synthetic media AC oil filters were not actually manufactured by AC. They were manufactured by Champion Laboratories. Nevertheless, these filters are of the same high quality internal design as the AC filters.

Guess I'm a sucker for marketing. I've been buying the fram filters for my daily drivers because they have the "grip" on the bottom. One is a 4 banger and the other a v6 and are front wheel drive. The oil filters are hard to reach and the grip makes the oil change much easier.

I'll switch to STP now. Thanks for the link.
