Color confusion on my 60 Vette

I am using a few lists from different sources, and i am finding some contradiction and complete omissions...here are a few, any answers or new cources for info will be appreciated.

Contradictions( listed in 2 columns):
1) wiper mounting plate, unpainted or black?
2) battery retainer, flat or semi black?
3) wire holdowns on engine block, black or orange?

Not Listed
1)clutch fork?
2) starter linkage(out of solenoid,attached to starter motor)?.... I painted the motor blitz black and the solenoid Rustolean gloss black
3) shifter linkage?
4) Driveshaft?
5) clutch adsjustment arm

OK, Dave - While you don't define the contradictions, wiper mounting plate I would paint semi gloss black to match engine compartment blackout. Battery retainer - semi gloss black, dip painted. Wire hold downs on engine, black or orange... This is a strange one. Not sure I understand the question. Clutch fork = orange overspray. #3 = no paint. #4 = semi black. 5. = the part you adjust, no paint.

About the wire clips... if we're talking about the 2 little ignition wire clips on the oil pan bolts on either side of the pan, orange.
If we're talking about the bracket on the left rear of the block that holds all 4 ignition wires for that bank, black (right side is part of draft tube). Likewise for the 2 brackets that bolt to the rear of the intake.
The 2-wire rubber coated ignition wire holders which bolt up with the front spark plug heat shields are natural / silver cad.

The contradictions are the first 3 items, because they are on 2 different lists. The wiper mounting plate is on the unpainted list and the semi flat list, you are saying to paint it semi gloss to match the blackout, I thought the blackout was a semi flat or blitz black, so now I have 3 choices on that item, are you sure you did not mean semi flat?
I meant the little wire clips that hold ign. wires around the engine block and oil pan area.
You never addressed #2, starter linkage.
and are you sure about the driveshaft color, where do I find all this good info? I have been using the AIM and ncrs data, are there other sources you could share?

...since I have no idea what "lists" you are referring to. In almost every case the wiper mounting plate was in place when engine blackout was done, therefore it will be the same color as the blackout paint. The use of the terminology flat black, semi flat black, semi gloss black, barbeque black, & blitz black get thrown around pretty fast and loose. I have used Krylon 1613-2 for about 25 years with no problems or judging deductions. I believe the AIM would be of little help in trying to determine colors. The 58/60 TIM/JG (Judging Guide) should help. Noland Adam's book can help some. This board is also of great help to me in learning about this stuff. I believe the driveshaft was painted "black" and then the part number (in yellow) added. I am not looking at your original post, but "starter linkage" confuses me. Best, Dennis

The different lists are a combination of the judging manual, the noland adams book, and member articles and lists from the ncrs Corvette restorer magazine Encyclopedia,( back issues ). The starter linkage is the linkage that connects the solenoid plunger to the lever on the starter body.
Yes, i already have those books and more, but somethings i just cant find what i am looking for, for instance, the driveshaft, any other sources you know of?
Where did you find the driveshaft?

I guess I found the driveshaft in 25 years of working on these cars and asking questions. If you are looking for a 100% foolproof, judge proof, attorney proof list of how these cars were built, I wish you the best, and hope you will share your findings with the rest of us. Best, Dennis

... the starter "linkage" is internal, you can't see it, is not judged, is not painted. DC

I'm hardly looking for the foolproof car, and this car will probably never even be formally judged, I just have all this crap out of it right now, and this project started off as just a facelift on the engine and engine bay anyway, so if I am going to do it, I want to get as much right as possible, I value your knowledge and opinions greatly, or i would not even have asked in the first place...please understand, I am an amateur, and i know it, just trying to make my vette look as good as possible, on a budget of not enough time and limited cash.
As far as that starter, the linkage i refer to, is definately external, maybe the wrong starter is in the car...i could send you picture if you like.

The external/exposed-linkage starter (#1107627) was last used on 56's; yours should be #1107664, with internal linkage.

I just bought a can of Krylon semi flat #1613, but no dash #, is this the same as to what you are refering to?
