in the repo parts books they list a valve cover decal "LQ" which is the engine code that is stamped on my pad. i have never seen a decal on the valve cover that i recall. where does it go?
thanks, dick
The label you mention goes on the rear surface of the right side valve cover. It was a paper label which was crudely glued to the cover. It was never designed to last very long and most don't. It's purpose was easy ID of the engine assembly for engine plant and vehicle assembly plant purposes. As long as it lasted that long, that's all that GM cared about; it was never intended to be a permanent sort of engine ID. Some may even have fallen off before the car left St. Louis.
