have been experiencing problems tuning tri power and through the experience of members have sent carbs out , and now i am installing intake again due to a poor seal at rear of intake , felpro 1257 gasket is the choice and it has the stainless restrictors for carb choke , they produce a high spot when setting intake in and just asking if they are going to compress or do you toss the restrictors and just use the gasket opening. . i have had enough of an intake carb problem , i do not wish to install again . thanks

buy the stock GM type gasket,the brown/black material with the thin metal insert between the 2 gasket surfaces. most of the aftermarket gaskets are too hard of a material to get a good intake to head seal unless everything is brand new and flat. the GM type compresses better and seals itself to the heads and and manifold. if it is the oval port intake use GM # 10174981 and if it is the retangular ports use GM# 12511789. the 12511789 has blocked heat riser crossover and if you want your choke to work you will have to remove the inserts. from my experience the blocked cross over will keep you from having fuel boiling problems with todays gasoline and if you do not drive in cold weather the cross over is not needed- Top

thanks i have always heard that fel pro were the gaskets of choice, i appreciate the correction. any install tips ? like adhesive ? where? last install i used the end rubber gaskets and i am removing because the one at the rear, started or was pushing out , going to use gasket sealer this time.- Top

use RTV on the ends of the manifold without the rubber seals. "tin" the block and manifold surface by rubbing with your finger a thin layer of RTV into both the manifold and block so when you put the "bead" of RTV it will "wet" to the surface better.i would use perma tex no hardening form a gasket in the white bottle around the water passages just to be on the safe side.you should not need any sealer on the manifold or head except around the water passage- Top
