    3M #8080 Glue replaced with #8088

I was at my local jobber store looking for the 3M adhesive spray,(Number #8080)
for install carpet. He said that the 8080 was being replaced with #8088. "General Trim Adhesive-clear" Has anyone heard of this? Also, has anyone used this 8088 adhesive on installing carpet? Does it work, and is it as good as the 8080 stuff? Thanks

    Ken:
I used the 8088 to replace the carpet in my '69 last year and it worked perfectly. Follow the directions and you will be happy with the results. Hope this helps.

Well, it's late, I'm tired, and my brain cells are fuzzy but I seem to recall that 3M made two spray glues: one was an adhesive and the other was listed as a super adhesive. Even the part numbers sound correct. I have used both with good success in installing carpet. Can anyone verify my tired ole brain?

#8080 was "General Trim Adhesive", and #8090 was "Super Trim Adhesive".
